Duties at First Steps? I help Hannah Dissen [regional coordinator] with editing documents, brainstorming ideas, and doing presentations or sitting at booths at events.

Why did you choose to volunteer with First Steps/How did you get connected to First Steps? I first met Susan Ritchie in Pyongyang, North Korea. I joined her for a couple of day trips to visit orphanages and schools. Now that I live back in Canada, I see how valuable it is to spread the word to others about the plight of the children in NK, and want to do my part in blessing the people of that nation from this side of the globe.

History with North Korea before First Steps? My husband and I (with our three kids) lived in North Korea for about 2 1/2 years teaching English. That's how I ended up meeting Susan in Pyongyang- I was living there.

Where are you located? Three Hills, Alberta

Career/Hobbies other than volunteering? I'm a stay-at-home mom who likes to read, play sports, and spend time with my great husband and kids.

What is your favourite thing to do for fun? I love playing basketball or getting caught up in a good book.

What is your proudest achievement? Hmm, I think giving birth three times to three amazing kids tops my list!!

What is your favourite snack/meal? I love most food...but I have a weakness for fresh fruit in season and good bread!
